Back from Vacation

June 27, 2011

This past week the hubs and I took the babe and ourselves the 8+ hours it takes to get to Northern Michigan- more specifically, Mackinaw City and Macinac Island. Though the weather was less than cooperative and we ended our trip having left my favorite pillow and gaining a cold for the babe, we had quite the fun time. It’s great to be home and now it’s time to get back to work since I’ve been accepted into the Chicago Renegade Craft Fair in early September. So, here are a few photos from our trip and I’ll see you on the flip-side.

Our hotel had access to two separate indoor water parks and the camera was mostly fogged due to the difference in temperature (55 outside, 90 inside) but I Love this look on his face and had to share it. We walked around the Mackinaw shops one evening and came across a nice little playground at the very end, which was a nice surprise. With the weather outside being so wet and dreary we spent a lot of time at the indoor waterparks and occasionally were able to walk around outside without getting soaked. One day we were actually able to walk on the beach without getting too attacked by seagulls- which, btw, Griffin can mimic nearly perfectly.

We also managed to get the most beautiful weather of our trip for the few hours we spent on the island.

After the Island we drove across the bridge where I closed my eyes and gritted my teeth chanting ‘hit don’t swerve’ (a familiar bridge phrase from my past). On the UP we enjoyed a sweet lunch of pasties and orange soda (a UP delicacy) and then took a tour of the Magic Spot.

Due to the bad weather and the unbearable temps (we only packed shorts and sandals) we decided to leave Mackinaw a day early and head South – we stopped in Lansing and stayed in a wonderful Suite hotel for the next two days where Griffin learned to stuff toilet paper in the toilet without even touching the water and we visited Potter Park Zoo where Griffin fed llamas, watched spider monkeys dangle, and fell in Love with the otters.

And now, we’re home folks;)
